Alright, the title of this post is a little corny, but it is fitting since Hollywood A-lister Jamie Foxx will most likely team up with top notch director Oliver Stone in a bio-flick about Martin Luther King Jr. The pair worked together before on the critically acclaimed Any Given Sunday film where Foxx impressed the Stone as an up ‘n’ coming actor at the time. In fact, it’s a well known fact that Foxx’s popularity with Stone caused friction between him and other bigger names in the film. Haters.
Foxx is currently in negotiations for the role of the Civil Rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. with DreamWorks and Warner Bros. If everything falls into place, the film will be ready to with the rights to the “I Have of Dream” speech bought in 2009.
This new project is being based on a script by Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks), and the King family has “agreed to lend their support to the movie, but it’s worth noting that this isn’t the only MLK biopic in town. Director Paul Greengrass, who will be back in theaters this weekend with the new film Captain Phillips, has been working on a competing project titled Memphissince 2011, and back in May of this year there was talk of Forrest Whitaker playing King. – cinemablend
Plus, the King family has given their support to DreamWorks and Warner Bros. for the bio-pic.
