Lionsgate is developing an adaptation of Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman’s book Stronger with Mandeville Films.

Jeff Bauman was one of the 260 injured in the 2013 bombing that also killed three people. He was waiting at the finish line for his girlfriend to cross when the bomb went off, losing both of his legs in the attack. After several surgeries the next day,Jeff Bauman realized he couldn’t speak, so he asked for a pen and paper and wrote, “Saw the guy. Looked right at me.” Those words set off one of the biggest manhunts in American history. The book, which was published in April, also chronicles his road to recovery and his mission to walk again.

John Pollono, who wrote and starred in the off-Broadway play Small Engine Repairs, will write the adaptation, marking his feature screenwriting debut. Mandeville’s Todd LiebermanDavid Hoberman and Scott Silver are producing, withPeter McGuigan serving as executive producer. No production schedule was given.

As an actor, John Pollono has appeared in guest-starring spots on Major Crimes,Mob City and Intelligence.“ – movie web
